CityArts will host its Fall Open House & Discover Your Creativity Workshops 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. Discover Your Creativity Workshops encourage you to sample a class of your choice before enrolling for the class in the fall. Each DYC Workshop costs $10 and requires advanced enrollment. A teacher information fair will take place during the Open House to show area teachers new field trip opportunities for the school year.
Discover Your Creativity Classes:
The digital photography program takes students from introductory courses learning how to maneuver the DSLR camera to making quality photographs. This basic entry-level class is designed to familiarize you with the different DSLR camera functions. The class is designed for beginners who are starting to learn about digital photography and their DSLR camera.
Learn the basics of this unique art form and produce forms in hot glass. Demonstrations and instructions will be given for more complex forms. Beginners must attend the first class orientation. Glass fee is included in the price of the class. Glass blowing is for students ages 16+. Note: Students will need to wear clothing made of natural fibers, a pair of tennis shoes and bring a pair of sunglasses.
You will learn to paint using various applications on a variety of surfaces. From beginners to the more advanced students, this class offers something for everyone.
Using System 96 glass, you can design jewelry and tiles or fuse and slump dishes, plates, wind chimes and other items. Information on fusible glass, design, use of color, mold prep, fusing and more will be e-mailed prior to class.
In this fun and lively class, you will learn basic throwing techniques for the potter’s wheel along with glazing and firing. Advanced students will be encouraged to attempt more difficult projects, such as complex forms and multi-piece throwing. Students may complete class projects or pursue special interests.
Edit, organize and export your photos all in one software. In this introductory Adobe Lightroom class, you will learn how to upload and organize your photos, how to customize the layout of your workspace and begin basic editing functions.
CityArts’ versatile metalsmithing studio offers experiences in jewelry fabrication (sawing, soldering and stone setting), lost wax casting (centrifugal), forging, forming, even enameling and lapidary on a limited basis.
