Join current Main Gallery exhibiting artist William Counter at an artist talk Thursday, Feb. 15 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Main Gallery. His current exhibition "Red Stripe" is on view through Saturday, Feb. 17.

About "Red Stripe"
William Counter uses mass media objects — magazines, LP covers, paperback books — as inspiration for paintings. The collection of images offers poetic dialogue, expressing personal and cultural concerns. William has a rural Kansas studio outside of Abilene, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute.

Painting a Self-Portrait with Mixed Media Workshop

In this time of posting "selfies," this workshop will help you create a self-portrait the old fashion way by using different waterbed painting media in conjunction with some dry media. The objective of this project is to use the anatomy of the your face in order to produce a likeness by staying painterly and not photographic. The work will be executed on canvas masonite board or heavy 140LBS and up paper.
