As we celebrate 20 years of providing art education to the Wichita community, we're constantly reminded of the great artistic talent radiating in our City. From public murals and towering sculptures to artwork made inside classrooms, Wichita is alive with a wealth of creativity and culture.
CityArts was created to serve as an all-inclusive community arts center. Now housed in the heart of Wichita's expansive entertainment district, we pride ourselves in being a place to explore, learn, connect and create.
This year, we're celebrating our 20th Artiversary by letting you Discover Your Creativity. We think the words "art" and "artist" deter people from pursuing creative paths, because some people don't label themselves as "artists." Instead, we invite the community to discover creativity in its many forms — painting, glass blowing, glass fusing, photography, drawing, quilting, yoga, calligraphy — the possibilities are endless.
We invite you to explore new classes and special events celebrating the 20th Artiversary of CityArts. And, as always, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to provide you creative experiences.
Kick off CityArts' 20th Artiversary with the 2018 Launch Party. View the “20x20” gallery exhibition, experience classroom demonstrations, learn about the history of CityArts and enjoy complimentary cupcakes provided by top prize winners from the 2017 Cupcake Challenge.
In case of inclement weather, we will not host the 2018 Launch Party. Check the website, Facebook or Instagram (@WichitaCityArts) for more information.
Purchase your next piece of artwork to add to your collection and help CityArts raise funds for the scholarship program at “Off the Wall,” a month-long gallery-style silent auction on view in the Main Gallery. Past exhibiting artists donated pieces to be auctioned off in this benefit event for CityArts.
Silent auction process information will be made available in early 2018. Informational brochures will be available at Final Friday, March 30, in the Main Gallery.
After the success of last year’s Cupcake Challenge, CityArts is bringing it back for a second year. Local cupcake artists will compete for top prizes in different categories. Guests can purchase a ticket to sample the tasty creations. All proceeds raised will support CityArts’ outreach programming to underserved populations.
Some cupcake creations may contain alcohol, peanuts & other allergens that will be clearly marked. Tickets will go on sale in June 2018. Information about entering the challenge will be available in April 2018.
Join CityArts for a new fall event. Artists will enter carved or painted pumpkins to be purchased by guests. Don’t miss a fall festival of candy, art projects, pumpkin carving demonstrations and a pumpkin patch filled with blown glass pumpkins. Entry information will be available in July 2018.
